A business model for a digital cinema roll out in Europe
Ymagis is
proposing a new business model to help finance European theatres conversion
to digital cinema. This model is based on a contribution mechanism : the
Digital Transition Contribution, inspired by the VPF experience in the United States.
This mechanism was invented after thorough discussions with European cinema
professionals from various horizons: distributors, producers and
exhibitors. It is also based on an extensive study of film bookings in
several European countries. It has been designed to take into account the
specificities of the European cinema industry, and its players’ diversity.
Ymagis'
model can finance over 90 % of European theatres, providing a good balance
between large circuits and small exhibitors, large integrated distributors,
international distributors and small independent distributors. This
business model has been designed to protect 100 years’ worth of diversity in the European cinema industry.
